December By The Bay is a charming coffee shop nestled beside a serene lakeside at Citra 8 in Jakarta. The first impressions are all about aesthetics; the spot is particularly praised for its stunning sunset views—a perfect backdrop for your Instagram feed. However, be prepared for a weekend crowd as seating can be limited, with more room available outdoors than inside.
On the menu, coffee lovers can dive into their signature Biscoff latte, which has garnered rave reviews, alongside decent cakes and hearty platters. The generous portion sizes often prompt diners to recommend sharing, especially for those with smaller appetites. Customer experiences vary with service; while many find it heartfelt—thanks in part to the warm hospitality of manager Mr. Anjas—others note that staffing can be thin during peak hours, affecting responsiveness.
Although the vibrant ambiance and friendly staff create a welcoming environment, be mindful of the outside noise from passing airplanes. Overall, December By The Bay stands out for its picturesque setting and relaxed vibe, making it a worthy destination for coffee enthusiasts and casual diners alike.

Reviews for December By The Bay
Review highlights
Based on 973 reviewsDecember By The Bay is widely appreciated for its scenic lakeside location, making it a popular spot for photography, especially during sunset. The café offers a cozy ambiance with both indoor and spacious outdoor seating, though the indoor area tends to feel cramped during peak times. Customers generally enjoy the coffee and food offerings, with particular praise for items like the biscoff latte and generous portion sizes. While the welcoming atmosphere is enhanced by attentive management and warm hospitality, some feedback points to service challenges during busy periods and occasional disturbances from nearby noise. Additionally, the allowance of indoor smoking is a divisive aspect among visitors.
Beautiful lakeside cafe at Citra 8. Great spot for photos especially during the evening and sunset. The place is crowded when I visited during the weekend and there aren’t too many seats and tables available. I would recommend sitting on the outdoor area as it can get quite cramped indoors. Their coffee and cake is decent, but service is lacking. They need to have more staff during busy times as the staff are all quite busy and it’s hard to get their attention when you’re sitting outdoors.
First time here, the cafe is a bit small. Indoor can only fits a few people. The outdoor was spacious though. First they told you to get a place to sit and to see their menu after you scan the barcode. They only got a few menu here. I tried the platter it was good. I recomended the biscoff latte. It was so good. I love the ambience except for the noisy airplane sound every few minutes.
Nice spot, very nice coffee, allows people to smoke inside so won't return.friendly staff.
Balcony table, a little bit hot in the afternoon. Big portion, for those who don't each much, we recommend to share.
This lakeside cafe is a must visit. The manager Mr. Anjas warm hospitality adds a personal touch. Guests have praised the attentive service, noting the manager's efforts to ensure a pleasant dining experience.
Always crowded. They sell the vibes. You can see the plane crossing right above your head . The coffee is good. The snacks is so so. I recommend you to visit on a sunset time. Because it’s really hot outside and the indoor area is too small and also crowded. The price is worth.
Burnt cheesecake, Latte, Chicken garlic butter rice Overall the food taste good, it’s quite pricey but thankfully it taste good. The cake is not to sweet, so it’s good and the chicken garlic, they have already take out the skin so it’s a plus point for me. Here you can have the meals with a nice view by the river. I came here for lunch, sat at the outdoor place, but it’s not that hot because the winds are still blowing by so it’s cool.
